today was when we flew to california
we were split into three groups: red, yellow, blue
and the red and yellow groups went on one flight in the morning (they had to get to school at 4:30 am rip)
and i was in the blue group so i had to get to school at 5:45 am
my flight was at like 10:30 or something i dont remember but the food at philly airport was amazing
when we got to lax my first reaction was legit
"why does this place have no grass"
and everything looked so dead i missed the east coast
but anyways that day we just had a welcome party at the hotel and stuff
I GOT A BALLOON SWORD AND A BALLOON WAND YAY
i didnt really eat anything tho cuz i wasnt hungry
then i went swimming with my bf in the pool and yeah it was cold
(spoiler alert it was cloudy the entire time we were in california)

ok so today im pretty sure it was the day we had the tour of hollywood and the tour of sony studios
so our group of like 250 kids got split up into group a and group b
i was in group a so we went to hollywood first
and group b went to sony first
we went on this really cool bus tour of like the los angeles/hollywood area
and bro our tour guide his name was gogo and hes such a goat
like he kept saying like some not family friendly stuff and it was so funny cuz
it was funny the first few times but then our teachers kept freaking out cuz they were like
"how do we get this guy to stop saying this stuff"
they then just randomly dropped us off at hollywood blvd for an hour which was NOT a good idea
but it was pretty cool i got to see godzilla's hollywood star thing
i also got a really good donut and stuff so that was epic
apparently this one girl got chased down by a homeless dude
and my friend got spit on by a random guy on the street and got called some uh
"choice words"
anyways then we met up with group b in a park and we ate lunch together
i had this really good sandwich lol
then we went to sony studios and saw a bunch of cool stuff
like the set of jeopardy and wheel of fortune
dude i legit got chills the second i stepped onto the set of jeopardy it was so cool
we also saw a real foley room and also a bunch of props used in movies
like ONE OF THE REAL JUMANJI BOOKS
it was epic
and then at the end of the day we had a bbq dinner at santa monica beach
at the end of it it was like 7:30 pm and it was terrifying cuz one of our sophomores got really lost and ended up like 3 miles away at a different beach
but yeah we got back to the hotel at 10:30 and it was super fun

ok so today we went to the san diego zoo and also did our music performance at the organ pavillion at balboa park
first of all they made us wake up at like 5 am cuz we had to drive 2 hours to the zoo :sob:
but its alright it was super fun at the zoo
i was kinda js walking around with my bf the entire time but yeah there isnt much to say

after we went to the zoo we met up at the entrance at like 2:30 or something like that
and we walked to balboa park and set up for our music performances
and those started at 4:00 and it was epic
then we drove to a FRIKIN CRUISE SHIP TO EAT DINNER
AND IT WAS SOOOOO COOL
i had this reall fancy chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies (i didnt eat the veggies)
i felt bad for all the ppl who ordered steak cuz half of them were like raw (not rare, raw)
but yeah it was really cool getting to just like go outside on the ship while it like drove (?)(swam??) in the water
it was kinda chilly but ngl the breeze was super nice
on the way back my teacher was like jumping out of his seat on the coach bus cuz he had too much caffeine :sob:

today was legit such a fun day WE WENT TO UNIVERSALLL
when we first got to universal the marching band did an epic performance
it was so funny cuz we had a pixar themed show for the marching band but they had to perform it at universal :sob:
its alright though
anyways right before the performance me and my bf and our friend we went to this japanese restaurant and ate dinner
i had udon and they had sushi
after the performance they just let us free in the park until 7:30
the first thing me n my bf did was go to the gift shop cuz why not
and then we went to like that mummy ride
and it was really scary so i kinda closed my eyes the entire time oops
but the ride itself felt really fun
and then after that we went to the jurassic world ride
and i got kinda wet (no not like that) from all the splashing water
but me n my bf got really lucky and didnt get soaked (bruh) from the big splash
ok and then afterwards we went to eat lunch at like the jurassic park cafe or wtv its called and i had a turkey leg
my bf was super sweet and he helped me peel off the parts of the turkey skin that were too hard for me to bite into :sob:
we also went to super nintendo world and it was super duper duper epic
we didnt go on the go kart ride tho cuz the wait time was 80 mins :sob:
but yeawh thats basically it it was super fun

sadly, this was the last day and we had to fly home
so we were again split into red, yellow, and blue groups
and the blue flight was the latest again so we only had to wake up at 8 am thankfully
and we left the hotel around 10 am
ngl the food options at lax were kinda mid and everything was super expensive but its alright
ok so some backstory these music department trips happen once every 2 years
and every year theres a "blue flight curse" that happens
where the blue flight is ALWAYS delayed
and this time bro our flight was delayed for NEARLY TWO HOURS
AND IT SUCKED CUZ WE ENDED UP GETTING BACK TO PHL AIRPORT AT LIKE 1 AM :SOB:
and then i didnt get to bed until like 3 am :<
it was terrible bro the blue flight curse lives on
but yeah thats the end of the trip
