AIME Update
by shiningsunnyday, Mar 15, 2016, 11:01 AM
It's been a while since I posted. First off, recently I've been compiling a list of my top 5 favorite AIME questions of all time that I would like to share on my blog (including hints, solutions, and comments), but unfortunately it might have to wait till tomorrow to be posted...
But more importantly,
the AIME II is in 2 days.
Recently, I've been prepping quite a lot (4 hours a day?) and have been falling behind on schoolwork... The best way I can put it is that in comparison to schoolwork, 4 hours of intense AIME training = 10 hours of school work. I feel dead everyday at school. Like, I failed two trivial math competitions at school due to sillies.
I've almost spammed pretty much every single AIME test in existence (up to 2011 now, and I've stopped now). Despite the pressure, it's a great experience, and I REALLY recommend you guys to do so as well for next year (if you didn't already). Up to 2005, I pretty much took each one 2-hour block and one 1-hour block, and tried to do all 15 questions. Then I realized I needed to stretch my level as much as I can, so for the recent years I've been focusing on #10-#15 (which are mental-killers!) After that, I really need to use the remaining < 48 hours to rest and get into good condition...
Also, today after I came back from another tiring day of school, I took the AIME I for fun. I didn't really go all out, and my lack of focus caused me to waste quite some time misreading 2 questions... I ignored the protests on the questions and answered 10 questions. Result? I solved 7 questions, sillied 2 questions, and got trolled by #7... Ok fine. The two sillies might be euphemisms. I really need to get into shape.
My goal on the AIME II is a 10.
After the AIME, I'm planning to write some kind of narration of my high school math life, no matter if I get into JMO or not.
As for summer, some plans have changed. In fact, I have a couple of plans, depending on how well I fare on the AIME. So I guess I'll talk about this after the AIME.
Anyways, stay tuned.
