AMSP Day 1
by shiningsunnyday, Jul 21, 2016, 6:22 AM
My crazy roommate woke up at 4: 45, and so did my dreams of grandeur snap shut like a window. At 5: 30, I was up, and after 2 hours of procrastination, we were on our way to breakfast, before which we did a "bring-it-in" huddle for team spirit purposes? Anyways, I talked to a few people -- some I've never met before, some I met yesterday -- at breakfast. After that, I sat awkwardly in the building of Combo 3, not wanting to be the first person to be seated. The first person I saw to arrive was called John (abbreviation), and after introducing myself we walked to class together. Soon, people began filing in, including a few MOPers as well as familiar faces from yesterday. We then joked a bit before the class started.
Darn.
Anyways, Vlad lectured for a while, and I understood pretty much everything except for a sudden USA TST problem, which I only got after reviewing the steps after class.
We did induction and combinatorial identities, most of which are easy thanks to Interm CP, and I ended up solving (or skimming over it and convincing myself I can solve it) all the problems besides P13 and P15 (darn too lazy to solve it tonight).
After lunch, I bought a 50 bucks lamp and an extension cord due to the darkness of my dorm, and went back to the dorm with Raymond24Y while sipping sugar coffee. During this time, I Skype called deathllama9 for the first time, but unfortunately messed up and made a fool out of myself. I apologize, deathllama9,
, please don't stop being my friend.
Then came Geo 3. We just did Menelaus and Ceva, and the whole class was trivial, with the exception of learning some pro-sounding stuff like the first and second Fermat points, Jacobi's theorem, and the Napoleon point (the actual geo was easy). I sort of fell asleep midway, so I never got to tell the following pun:
...Also I'm shy so darn.
During class I met AoPSers adik7 from my Oly Geo class and JMO HM pinetree1 whose blog I've been following lately. While the Geo 3 problems look hard when standing alone, they became really trivial after I put a few reps with the Law of Sines, but were nevertheless easy thanks to EGMO. Then before class ended, everyone was encouraged to solve individually a USAMO problem, which I did, albeit it was a bit annoying. Overall, I really hope tomorrow will be harder. :\
After class and dinner, I went to pinetree1's room and watched him explain to me some OP geo problems he solved lately. Then I came home and decided as to whether I should go to req, eventually deciding not to due to no basketball
and so my roommate and I stayed indoors like 2 fat nerds and did the Combo 3 and Geo 3 problem sets. (I was going to post 2 problems, but it's really late and I really don't want to doze off in Cosmin tomorrow.)
...So yea, then I texted with the girl whose phone number I got for a while.
RIP.
Then I showered, and then visited the girl's bathroom (which our RA group is allowed to use), and joked with one of my dorm mates.
Guess I'll always have an immature side within me.
Anyways, good night.

This person I met yesterday: *walks up to me* Hey, you want to uh, come back here and sit next to me?
Class: *Chuckles a bit*
Me: What you want to flirt or something, cause there's a girl in this class. *Everyone looks at the awkward girl*
Me: *feels bad*

Cosmin: So we're going to prove Menelaus as follows, etc. etc.
Me: Well, there is also a 3D proof of Menelaus, and it contains many layers. (get it)

Me: So how does it feel sneaking around a girl's bathroom for the first time?
Him: *Laughs* You know what's the biggest difference between girl's and boy's bathroom? Go look at the extra box next to the toilet. I think you know what's in their.
Me: Wow seems like you've been very observant.
