Okay, most people DON'T know this but I feel like that this MUST be known for EVERY SINGLE PERSON that is thinking of getting a pet.
Getting a pet is not an easy thing, and if you're 100% interested or understanding, you should NOT GET ONE!
You need to be prepared in order to bring home your pet. You need to know what they need, what to do, what harms them, what doesn't, and what you should do just in case something happens. If you bring home a pet without knowing this, then your pet is going to be TORTURED!! Yes, I'm not even kidding.
You also need to be 100% interested and willing to get a pet. Listen, it's NOT as easy as people say it is! You need to feed them, clean them, look after them, and make sure they are okay and happy. Just because you get a pet doesn't mean that you get to play with them all the time, you also have to clean them and do regular checks. If you are okay with doing that, get one. If you're not? Don't. Just because you get tired of your pet after a week or two doesn't mean that you can just abandon it. If you're going to do that, DON'T. GET. A. PET!!!!
Seriously, I'm tired of people that are doing this to animals. If you get a pet, make sure it has a long and happy life AT LEAST while it is under your responsibility. A pet is a living thing, not a toy that you can throw away and ignore because it gets boring. A pet is like a person, it has a life and it has hopefulness and eagerness to have a happy one. By doing this, you are torturing your animal and giving up on it. If my parents did this, I'd probably be extremely depressed and I'd most likely not be here right now. Comparison: If you do this to your pet, then they won't be there.
Like Noozie, for example. I feel really, really guilty that I didn't do enough research. If I did more, maybe she wouldn't be sick right now. I also feel guilty that I didn't realize how unwilling my parents were and only cared about my own happiness. That was selfish. Maybe if I'd known that my parents didn't want a hamster, I wouldn't have gotten one and Noozie would be with a more loving and caring family than now. I feel really, really, really, REALLY bad for Noozie and I will promise myself NOT to make these mistakes again.
My point is: Every single animal has a life. Like a human. You shouldn't throw it away, ignore it, or do things that you're not sure of doing. You can only get one as a pet if you're SURE that you can manage the responsibilities. It's not easy, and if you're not confident, don't get it rather than make mistakes and harm it.
Every life matters, even one that isn't human.
