hey math people—answer this question please

my mom and i had a huge argument about graphs because she yelled at me about little details that i thought didn’t matter
you know how the stupid answer keys show this?

the labellings?
my mom got SO mad at me for not including those and i was like, “it’s not like you label the axis or something with numbers people KNOW that the y and x axis”
and she said that the details matter and that one day i am going to fail a test because i don’t include that
i told her that was complete bs and 1) i’ve always done that i never failed a math test 2) stop getting hung over details 3) it doesn’t matter and it’s common senseexcept for ignorant people like you
i was halfway through that sentence when i realized… i’m actually not too sure
i mean, it’s obvious, right? and i’ve done that so many times for graphs and i’ve never gotten marked for it, ever.
but then again, math sorta is about the details
my logic is that, you know how you label the axis? that’s because nobody knows whether it’s 1, 2, 3, or 2, 4, 6, or 10, 20, 30. sure, you can assume, but there’s different possibilities
but as long as you are drawing in a rectangular graph, the standard, it’s gonna be an x and y axis. of course an imaginary graph is different, those are the graphs you have to label, but for regular graphs shouldn’t that be okay?
wait actually now (changing opinions midway) that might sorta be true because people might “assume” (because math teachers assume the wrong thing to make you get stuff wrong) that it’s an imaginary graph instead. of course it can’t be a polar graph because it’s obvious when it is, but it could be imaginary cuz it’s the same except the labellings and stuff.
but isn’t that the standard?
like, you can argue that you thought 6/2(2+1) was 1 using the STANDARD way of order of operations while 9 is more modern. you can be like, “oh but that was the standard once so technically it is ambiguous”
if you get what i mean
so my mom proceeds to call my dad and rant (with me in earshot, really really really loudly smh) that i was going to fail math and that i’m heading down the drain and that this is not the way she taught me to be and that i’m gonna become a little 미친 바보 at math.
sorry for this being long
but
tl;dr, just look at the picture, and tell me if the circled ones are necessary
