here is a list of flec's top four favourite Christmas carols and why.
feel free to comment down your own c:
i know this is a huge entry, but i hope you take your time to read it because it may help you in the future.
4. christmas shoes
it may seem really corny when you first hear it, but the lyrics are very moving and powerful. you can sense how loving the boy is to his mother and how much he really cares about her. you can also sense how kind the narrator is and how soft of a heart he has. i know his mother probably didn't make it, but i really hope she did. it's really sad but hopeful at the same time. i hope his mother knew how much he loved her and how much he was willing to go through for her.
"Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if mama meets Jesus tonight."
3. merry christmas, happy holidays
i love this song's relaxing and cheerful tone. its lyrics and melody is really calming and you can easily imagine yourself outside in the snow. it gives a christmas-y mode while cheering up the listener.
i couldn't get the lyrics because the sites were blocked, but feel free to search it up yourself C:.
2. carol of the bells by david foster
this is an instrumental piece, but its amazing improvisation and classical-like melodies are beautiful. i love how there's piano mixed in the middle of the piece and how there are chimes, bells, and other instruments that make this piece sound like an actual christmas carol. it's been a long-term favourite of mine (since age 7!). if i could tie it with my number 1, i would c:.
1. believe
this is from polar express, if i remember correctly. it's beautiful and its slow melody is charming, if you put it into one word. it gives a lifelong lesson you should keep in mind and has a nostalgic mood as well. it's sad, encouraging, and hopeful all at the same time. you can tell how much the narrator cares about hope and believing. i believe that he would make a great father, haha c:.
here are part of the lyrics:
"Believe in what your heart is saying
Hear the melody that's playing
There's no time to waste
There's so much to celebrate
Believe in what you feel inside
And give your dreams the wings to fly
You have everything you need
If you just believe"
"We were dreamers
Not so long ago
But one by one
We all had to grow up
When it seems the magic slipped away
We find it all again on Christmas Day"
despite their ranks, all of these songs are beautiful and wonderful songs that you should definitely listen to!
no matter what season it is, i love listening to christmas songs just to put me in a good mood when i am feeling down.
some of these songs will put you in a hopeful but nostalgic mood, and sometimes you need a song that can actually understand you. surprisingly, i find this in these christmas songs.
i hope you enjoy.
