something that happened to me in first grade that i still wonder about

so in first grade, our teacher gave all of us a personal stuffed animal. me and this other girl had a fight over it.
we could trade if we wanted to, right?
so basically she got a unicorn and i got a puppy
kkay i like puppies but i didn't like this one
so this girl with a squirrel traded with me and then traded the unicorn girl
if that makes sense
here ik it doesn't make sense so here's a model:
(this is insanely bad, but i hope u understand cuz i was drawing with a touchpad which is actually pretty hard)

basically i now had squirrel, girl with unicorn had my puppy, and girl i traded with had unicorn
BUTTT the girl with the unicorn that i had just traded my puppy for decided that she wanted the squirrel back
so she asked for the squirrel back
we had initially made the promise of no trade backs
so i was like
"oh hELLLLLLLLLl no"
but she went tattling to the teacher and got her squirrel back because the teacher thought the no trade back rule was bs
but the thing is now i had the unicorn because she had traded my puppy for the unicorn with the other girl
so i had a unicorn, which i hated even more than the puppy and went i asked for the girl with the puppy for my puppy back she said no
so now i was stuck with a stupid unicorn-
so basically my question is
1) should you teach 1st graders to keep their word? clearly we had the agreement of no trade backs when we did it, so shouldn't the teacher have said "you said no trade backs so keep your word"
2) should you teach 1st graders that it's not how it works? shouldn't the teacher have told the girl that if she already traded my puppy for the unicorn and i didn't want the unicorn, she should've gotten the puppy back before demanding back the squirrel?
3) should we teach 1st graders that things don't always go their way or should we wait? either way, one person would be unhappy and that person turned out to be me because the teacher was too nice to the girl who cried about wanting her squirrel back
i was really annoyed for seriously six months after that because the squirrel was so cute
and besides, how is that fair bro u literally trade off my puppy and go demanding back my squirrel like how prim prissy princess are you even at that age smh life isn't fair.
so should we teach first graders that life isn't fair
anyhow funny story
tattletale girl i am now friends with to this date and we play on the same volleyball club
other girl who refused to give bacc puppy goes to our rival high school and is on varsity as a freshman for both basketball and volleyball and is one of the most insane middles i have ever seen at her height (like 5'9" or 5'10" i think, maybe 5'8")
i guess we were all brought back together by volleyball
