the way i judge cars
by flec, Nov 27, 2023, 6:15 PM
getting a new car / how my five year old self determined a car's vibe and mood / dream car, cars have eyes
mostly visual entry
(except for talking abt cars a bit, because i want to explain the way i looked at cars ever since i was little and how i judged them)
we switched our

toyota sienna (affectionately called sienna)
to
kia santa fe hybrid

nicknamed "santa"
due to our sienna being from 2012, so after we got into yet another accident my dad was like "i want a car with more sensors", shopped for cars for a solid day, and went out by himself and brought home our santa.
my mom and i were against it because of our emotional attachment for sienna (we had for over ten years... the memories :')
my dad was like "u wanna die?"
so he got it... all of our memories just poof gone as soon as we came home on sunday afternoon...
anyways, ever since i was little i had this thing where i thought "cars had eyes" and therefore judged how "happy" they were based on it
basically, the shape of the car's back headlights would look like eyes to me and determine it's, persona? idk the exact word for it
here are visual examples again

i added little annotations to show what i mean
it's weird because i have literally never met anyone in my life who thought the same way i did
some people were like "hm i see that i guess" once i brought it to their attention and others were just like "huh" and some mensa people were like "wow you're very creative" and although i now take that as a compliment on my best trait, back then i was frustrated on how people thought this was "different."
for me, it was just like looking at a shape of someone's eye to reflect their mood.
anyways, my dream car is a volkswagen beetle

preferably in yellow (my favourite color!) or orange (also a fav) or light purple.
my dad (a very black/white/grey) person always criticizes me for it and is like "teenagers are gonna egg ur car callie"
and i'm like "the only downside is that it will be hard to get away from a crime"
and my mom's just being the cheerleader for both of us and is like "all colors are good... except a yellow car."
to explain more of my "attachment" to cars, or more like empathizing with them, i have trouble just explaining that, so i'll probably write a very short story for my next entry to talk about that. you may never bring yourself to sell your car ever again...
rip sienna :')
september 2nd 2012 -> 11/26/2023
hopefully i will see it again someday just like our blue camry 2007 that got sold by, again my dad, in 2021 while i was in korea. i've seen many other camry's since then and i'm hoping that one of them was my old one hahaha
flec's car tributes:
camry: july 2007 -> july 2021
sienna: september 2nd 2012 -> nov 2023
flec's current cars:
elantra "lanty"
kia santa fe "santa"
giving our cars nicknames is like a signature thing for us because we've always had two cars LOL
