save yourself

one thing i think everyone should live by to be a better person, more well-liked by literally everyone, and in competitions especially like math ngl
okay so one thing that aops has taught me is that i'm very lacking in math lol i've always wanted to have a steady math blog, but for someone who does math as a hobby, i learned to accept that maybe some other blogs are a better option
however, if there's one thing i do want to do
if someone else gon teach y'all to be good at math, i'll teach you how to act real good in a math competition
or anything
because i think this applies anywhere
uh just to cut to the chase
don't do random crap because you're in a bad mood, including being rude to others, acting mean to yourself in front of others, just any of that in general
i feel like i've gotten worse and worse at elaborating this stuff over text as my communication skills in real life have simultaneously gotten better, but i'll do my best.
like
people do this subconsciously i'm not even joking if you're mad at yourself and you miss a math question you're gonna roll your eyes, groan to yourself, or slap the table or something it happens
try not to do this. i know it's not easy and that others may not judge because it's not towards anyone else, but teachers and managers notice well, and some other people too.
being mean or cranky to others is a whole nother level. i know it's hard to stop yourself, but with your peers and teachers, it's a must.
family is forever, most of the time. your parents, siblings, they'll all forgive you eventually. but for people who aren't, there's no inclination to be nice. why should they be nice? as soon as you f'up once, they're going to be gone. it's the reality of life. one thing that summarizes best i think, out of everything i've thought of, is this:
you may be in a bad mood right now, but you're not going to be in a bad mood forever. how you treat others in a bad mood is how they'll treat you when you're in a good mood because you've put them in a bad mood and they're going to remember that even when you're better now
i have two vball teammates who are literally like black and white depending on their mood. i'm sure people have experienced this with their math teams as well. it literally sucks playing with them because their performance and how they treat you will differ depending on how they play. i hold back on lashing out most of the time, but my opinion on them is low and frankly not good, even if they're the sweetest people ever and stuff in a good mood.
"why are you acting like this?"
"well i'm in a bad mood"
"well you just put me in a bad mood fym."
yeah
just cuz you miss a goal, an easy question, or you're simply having a bad day, it doesn't matter. the most well-liked people in any area are people who you can go to and expect the best every time, not to worry about how they might be.
really doesn't matter how nice you are when you're in a good mood.
it's easy to be nice when you're in a good mood lol it's about how you act when you're in a bad mood that determines whether you're really nice or not. i hope you remember this the next time you feel like being grumpy.
sometimes you sadly have to fake it until you make it i guess
