[11/19/2023] favourite things, piano red flags, math blog
by flec, Nov 20, 2023, 4:22 AM
talking about some of my fav things (as in colour, food, song, traits, kpop group, etc), red flags in piano pieces + pianists, and a new blog with helena!
favourite things: i supposed i would write this to organize all the crazy things everyone is always asking me:
hey flec, what is your favourite . . .
colour: orange + yellow, as you can see from this blog
food: honey, nutella, sweet potatoes, tea, blackberries, korean pork belly (oh yeah)
song: forget about you (intimate), sick of you (mason murphy), aka every single song in my spotify playlist
kpop group: ive
kpop artist: v, iu, yujin
traits: friendly, genuine, creative
socials: instagram + snapchat + reddit (ironic that it's orange, if you get what i mean)
sports to play: volleyball, figure skating, dance (aka the sports that were a major part of my life)
sports to watch: volleyball, dance, women's gymnastics, men's soccer
instruments: piano, guitar, violin, harp, drums
christmas carol: carol of the bells (david foster's version only, any version of this song with vocals is bad hands down no arguing facts)
piano red flags: either of a piece or of a pianist
piece
- too long (over eight minutes or ten pages)
- takes too long to get to the good melody part
- too many scales
- doesn't sound good (based on intuition)
- no exciting part
- not difficult-sounding enough
- too difficult to actually play
pianist
- LONG NAILS
- flexes too much
- plays like a rigid stone with no emotion (aka playing the lark with all forte)
- plays easy pieces and acts like they're qualified (flashback to the time when we were like 10 and the girl playing the happy farmer told me (playing chopin's waltz in a minor) to play with more feeling and make sure to emphasize my trills more or something like that)
- gives too much unwanted criticism
- wears a fancy-ahh 3 foot wide dress to the talent show just to play rush e or something
- talks about how good their performance was when urs obviously sucked (flashback to the recital where i was crying after messing up and this girl played good and was smiling in my face and was like "dont u think i did good")
