risu's tumor
by flec, Feb 8, 2023, 5:31 PM
so yesterday, i checked risu's underbelly just like how i do every week. but this time, i found a small lump on her stomach a bit above her leg,and she had lost some hair on that part.
hamsters can get tumors apparently from a lot of genetic factors, and considering that risu's from petsmart, it seems pretty likely that it could be a tumor.
because she's eating well, running well, sleeping well, and acting normally, hopefully this lump hasnt been here for long and isn't bothering her much yet.
we're planning to take her to the vet asap. my mom and i made a deal--if the vet could not get an appointment for her in less than a week, we'd take her to the emergency immediately. (so glad she doesnt want the noozie thing to happen again when we took her too late).
anyways we pray for risus recovery
which hopefully seems likely because i caught it early
and be sure to watch for these lumps in your own hamster!
i would check for increasing/decreasing weight, stomachs, habits, etc in your hamster to see if they're sick or not. if u leave these tumors for long it can get deadly, obviously. it's my first time dealing with something like this too, so i don't know, but i'll update so i can use this entry for future reference and for other people with hamsters.
