how nice is my school?

social experiment :: smiling at the random (or not random) people in my life and seeing their reaction
although it was difficult due to my irrational back-of-the-mind fear of getting judged
i smiled at everyone i saw and observed their reactions
and now imma organize it in this entry
what percentage of my teachers smiled?
100% -- actually, a few of my teachers smiled first
per 1 spanish :: my teacher actually smiled first and said "you're here!" (i was late today oops)
per 2 graphic design :: this teacher has a constant smile on her face even though she's in her 70s and we never pay attention in her class (she doesn't teach, but she smiles haha)
per 3 math :: he smiled back politely
per 4 pe :: he also smiled back
per 5 ap environmental science :: she smiled first and said hi
per 6 pre-ap english 2 :: he has a constant smile on his face until we start being loud
what percent of my friends smiled?
95% -- i have a good group of friends guys!
friends in my volleyball :: all smiled back and wished my team a good match
friends at lunch :: also smiled back ;; some even smiled first
one friend :: did not smile back because she had apparently done bad in her volleyball match (i didn't see her match because i was at the other gym) and was crying
friends in my classes :: all smiled back and said hi
the best feeling after getting your heart broken by fake friends is to have friends that care like this
what percent of random people in the halls//acquaintances//random people smiled?
70% -- people are nice most of the time
people in my volleyball who are not friends :: i have 4 people on my volleyball team i'm not friends with, and 2 of them smiled back
some random people in the halls :: actually i was surprised--all but one or two smiled back! maybe because i don't know them, they don't want to judge me as much, and frankly, a smile isn't very hard, is it?
this boring girl who has no emotion except when she's mad :: did not smile back
people on the bus that weren't preoccupied by being on their phone :: all but one actually smiled back!
what percent of the people that don't like me, mutually don't like, enemies smiled?
66% -- some may not be genuine, though
the person i don't like and does not like me back on my volleyball team :: did not smile back (it took a lot of effort to smile at her in the first place though so my smile probably did not seem genuine)
mutual enemy :: did smile back, but was pretty awkward--will count that though!
mutually dislike :: did smile back actually! but she is very friendly with everyone (cough cough too friendly) and usually has a fake smile plastered on her face every second of the day (dang it got personal quick)
so to conclude, i think our school has pretty nice people, or at least people who aren't lazy enough not to smile back
i think this experiment has given me a lot of information about people in general
personally, i think by just simply smiling at someone, you can already kind of tell how nice they are
-- did they look away? they might be kind of shy and awkward, or just weirded out
-- did they glare at you or whisper to their friends? they might be mean, unwelcoming, or suspicious people (mostly high school and middle school girls, not gonna lie)
-- did they smile back? maybe they're nice. maybe they're mean. but they are willing to take some effort to smile back at you, which is a good thing
-- did they wave and say hi, or approach you? they might want to be your friend, be your friend, or they may be really nice, outgoing, and amiable people. maybe these are the people you should try to approach next time if you don't have anyone to talk to in a lunchroom and you're alone
and wow, teachers have to be nice
i'm surprised they haven't drawn a smiley face and taped it on their face because smiling that much must be exhausting
i have this theory that by smiling more you get more wrinkles faster but that probably can't be proved well
