if i were you, i would get a turtle
although turtles probably need more maintenance (cleaning out a turtle enclosure will probably be harder than cleaning out a hamster enclosure) + you'll probably have to do a lot of research again, turtles are pretty good pets and it is pretty fun to watch them swim around and eat! (just make sure that you give them a proper habitat and not a tiny plastic bin with a rock in it or else the turtle will be sad and you won't have fun watching it play because there is nothing for the turtle to play with) turtles also have very long lifespans if you take care of them properly so if you do get a turtle, please make sure that you won't give up on it when the turtle gets "boring"
turtles can also carry salmonella (yes, pet turtles as well) so when handling them (or their habitat), make sure to wash your hands before and after. it's also not recommended to snuggle with your pet turtle like you would with a pet dog...
sorry for the super long comment...

ALSO DO NOT TRUST THE PET STORE PET CARE MANUALS!!!!!!! they just want you to purchase their super deluxe big and awesome pet habitat but those habitats are probably too small (even though they are advertised as "huge") so make sure that you do your own research on proper turtle care so that your turtle can have the best life possible!
(for example, pet store hamster care manuals say that hamsters are herbivores and that they only need 2 inches of bedding...

Hmmm turtles/tortoises aren't as "cuddly" as hamsters but they're pretty cute imo :PP
And yeah they do live long
Although they hibernate :\

bruh turtles/tortoises are crazy OP
Some people I know have a turtle/tortoise and they live in a like 8 or 12th story apartment in a major city. It bleeping fell out of the apartment onto the sidewalk or something and got its shell a bit cracked but it's still walking around today a couple of years later.
Not sure how great they are as pets because they might last longer than you want (sounds dark and mean to say, but honestly it would be kinda annoying to have to take care of your pet for your entire life if you aren't completely sold) and I have no idea if they show affection and stuff but dang, those things don't wanna die.

wait a minute turtles have lifespans of usually like 20 years and even all the way up to 60 - 80 if you treat them well enough
how did you get yours to die such a young death kale :0
something smells very sus about that turtle's death
eh turtles live so long not sure how nice it would be to have a pet turtle that lasts with you until you're 70 yr old gramma
actually if you are a great owner (which I'm sure flec is) that turtle is probably gonna outlast both you and your parents-
feels weird to think about
see that's why dogs and cats are great they last way longer than rodents and rabbits and also show great affection and interaction and also doesn't live super long where it gets creepy

szheng my turtles lifespan was a predicted 20 years, and that is shortened because the turtle was kept in captivity
i also didn't get the turtle when it was a bebe, i got it when it was already like adult sized bigboi so ://
i had my turtle for a good 3 years before it died :pensive:

i wish i could give you advice but i have a tortoise, not a turtle
(from my experiences with my tortoise) do not expect attachment/cuddliness like you would from with a hamster. they're not super high maitenence animals, you don't really interact with them that much. if you're getting busier, a turtle would be a great choice for a fun animal to watch while not having to care for it for hours a day. now take everything i say with a grain of salt because i don't know about water systems for turtles (because tortoises dont use water kek) just expect new things as with any pet and remember to be paitent, good luck and i hope you have lots of fun times and adventures with whatever new pet you get!! looking forward to updates
