these are the moments i've had with each of my four best friends that i knew they were my best friends
i was going to post screenshots of some texts but i realized that's risky considering that this is public so i decided to just describe them
i'm sure if they ever stumbled upon this they would know who i am, but it's still alright, you know.

friend 1
we got to get a little closer back in 8th grade when we were both in track and on the same 4-1 relay team
we got even closer on our school field trip where we shared a room together
but the moment i knew she was my best friend was when i accidentally tripped over a dude and fell and she pulled out her phone, took a picture, and laughed so hard she fell with me.

then she said, "a friend would help you, but since i'm your best friend i'm going to laugh."

i was upset over my crush thinking he didn't like me but then she said "[ ]? oh he's kinda immature you need a guy who will truly care about you."

friend 2
i haven't exactly had a moment yet, but we are still best friends. you don't always need an aha moment to know if someone's your best friend. i'm closer to friend 1, but that doesn't mean i don't love her. she's more chill and quiet and collected. she balances the crazy people (me and friend 1) out a lot and we love her

friend 3
we were actually on the same volleyball team last year although she got cut this year. i knew she was my best friend when there was this one girl who was honestly terrible to us, and one time they fell over each other while trying to get the ball. they had a big fight and then the moment i knew i loved her was when we created a nickname for the girl that not only rhymed with her name, but was the silliest, most creative, the funniest insult i've ever heard in my life. i was like girl ur my best friend.

i actually had this moment right today, which is coincidental just like my "things i like about myself" entry because i was planning this entry before i had the moment with her.

the people who read my private blog probably know about the message my crush sent me and how i'm still crying over it because it was literally the sweetest thing i've experienced in my entire life.

friend 1 urged her to read the email (i had posted it in the gc) and after she read it she looked at me and went "that's so cute". we've never really been close but after hearing her say that with a smile on her face and gushing over it with friend 1, i knew she was real. i know it doesn't really seem like that but if you were there you would understand. yeah.

after years of having turbulent friendships, meeting friends like them makes me realize how people can be good.
