Excellent Podcast on Thinking, Learning, and Teaching

by rrusczyk, May 21, 2011, 12:10 AM

This podcast captures a lot of my beliefs about thinking, learning and teaching. I won't try to summarize here, except that I think students, particularly those who believe themselves to be particularly smart, or who aspire to operate at the frontiers of human knowledge, should take some of it to heart. There's a lot of good, subtle lessons about how to learn, about how to develop your skills (specifically, lots of introspection), and the observation that our models of the world are not reality.

That was very, very good. Thanks for posting.

We all have our own pet peeves about the deficiencies of the standard curriculum, but mine is epistemology. The lack of sound and humble theories of knowledge leads to hubris in business and policy decisions which lead to human misery.

I'll have to go get his book.
