Variance at the Top

Even 6 years later, I'm amazed at the huge variance in the quality of work that students submit on the Challenge Sets in our classes. Part of that, of course, is the fact that we don't give grades in our classes. But what I find amusing is that the typical classroom would see all of these students as exactly the same -- they're pretty much all students who ace everything in their regular schools. So, they all look the same in their classrooms. They look very different to me. That's important, I think.
