Bob Fischer wins again

by rrusczyk, Mar 6, 2007, 2:43 PM

Special thanks to rcv for passing this to me.

Bob Fischer's team wins Indiana state MATHCOUNTS for the 21st or 22nd time (I've lost track). Lest you think it's just because he teaches at the best school, he has switched schools once or twice during that time, and he just keeps winning.

I will note that over the past year, he's ordered a lot of copies of books from our Introduction series!

(Note to students: Do not discuss actual scores on the state test, nor problems or useful strategies to know.)

It must be because he has the same name as a former world-champion chess player@@ (Hopefully he won't end up the same way though ;))

Wow, that has got to be like winning the IMO of teaching. Consistently turning any raunchy middle schoolers that come through the system into state champions that many years in a row if really quite an accomplishment.

And he couldn't have done it without the introductory series books.

Now that's funny.

From what I've seen of Bob, he could do it with one hand tied behind his back.
