Reason 83 writing our new books is going smoothly

by rrusczyk, Jul 19, 2006, 11:24 PM

So I'm starting on polynomial division for the Intro Algebra book.

Me: (Gripes about how hard it will be to teach this in print)

Dave & Mathew: No, it'll be easy, just do this and this and this.

Me: (Gripes again about how hard it will be to teach this in print)

Dave & Mathew: No, it'll be easy, just do this and this and this.

Me: (Gripes yet again about how hard it will be to teach this in print)

Dave & Mathew: No, it'll be easy, just do this and this and this.

Me: Grumbles, says, ok, I'll try this and this and this.

And of course they're right. (But it's still not a whole lot of fun to write - I'm looking forward to writing an intermediate book.)

I'm not sure easy is the word. But that goes for the whole of writing an Introductory Algebra book for AoPSers.

You talked about polynomial division in vol.2, and it was very well done and easy to understand. :)

just think of those advanced, top-in-the-nation 6th graders that will love reading a good explanation of synthetic division. that should supply some motivation.
