More Big Government Designed for Big Companies

We can't sell books to public schools in Chicago unless we have liability insurance naming the school system as a certificate holder. What small publisher can process (and pay for) requests like that?

Grrr. We'll pass. The folks in Chicago will have to find another way to buy our books than use public funds...

These sorts of regulation are absolutely absurd, and mainly serve to enshrine the status quo. If you ever ask why so little changes for the good in education, and we don't see the sort of innovation you see on the internet, this is a significant part of the answer.

Liability insurance? Are they afraid someone's going to hit themselves on the head with your books?

That's why all of us here at AoPS are math-crazed. Kind of like the username of the AoPS user Mathcrazed.
