First day of the SDMC

by rrusczyk, Oct 7, 2006, 11:08 PM

Two of our three groups of the San Diego Math Circle met today, and we had a parents' meeting. We had nearly 150 students, and almost 100 parents at the parents meeting.

Time to look for more rooms and more teachers. . .

Many thanks to the parents for their excellent recruiting efforts. We also raised around 3500 in donations today. It's going to be a busy year, but it looks like it will be a fruitful one.

3500 doesn't count the companies making matching donations, right? That means it should be well over 6000. :)

Today's high school class was great. Hypercubes are very interesting. :D

35 $\$[/dollar]$/parent ??? Wow, that's incredible!

I mean, it's actually a killer deal for them (a bunch of lectures for their children by some of the best instructors on earth for dirt cheap :D ). But that still shows great parent support.

Yeah, we get a great deal of support from the parents, both financially and logistically.

Also, another interesting note: only one senior out of all the students. Imagine how big we'll be *next year*.
