Can't go home again

I visited my old haunts at DE Shaw today, which is still the place I've worked longest (a mere 4 years). I spent a little time with my old boss and with the handful of people I worked with (8 years ago - I'm getting old) who are still there.

I came away with the familiar 'man, if I'd stayed there I'd be scary rich' feeling. Bugged me for about 10-15 minutes, until thinking of all the neat things I've been able to do instead, and all the neat things I'll get to do in the not-too-distant future, chased those thoughts away. AoPS and living where I live (it snowed here in the northeast yesterday) have a lot to do with that. Moreover, I don't think I'd need more than one hand (if that) to count the things I haven't been able to do due to lack of money. Maybe hire more aggressively, but at this point, finding the right people is proving as hard as finding the money to pay them. So even that hasn't been too greatly slowed by lack of funds.
