And When They're Not Working for the Teachers...

They'll be working for the other beneficiaries of insane pension systems. This one gives the lie to the "it would be wrong to change the pensions retroactively because people worked for years with that promise" myth -- as I understand it, the San Diego pensions were changed retroactively. So, why can't we change them again retroactively? (Yes, with this blog post, I have disqualified myself from office in California.)

in fact, it would be wrong to change the pensions EVER because people who are not yet teachers worked for years thinking they'd become teachers with the assumption, err... promise, that the pensions would never change

also, shouldn't there be some minimum threshold of solvency below which such "moral" arguments fall on deaf (or broke) ears?
