Using the SAT to Game the System

Not just the students, but the schools. I'm not really sure what to think about this. Short version: Baylor is paying admitted students to re-take the SATs, and giving them bonuses for increasing their score. Cynical view (and probably an accurate one): Baylor is paying kids to help boost US News & World Report rankings. Of course, this helps the students, too, since it allegedly raises the perceived value of a Baylor education.
Speaking as someone who graduated from a school that has been #1 in these rankings many times, these rankings are really, really stupid.
My school beat out Harvard many times simply by being better than anyone (maybe even the IRS) at keeping track of where its alums are and shaking them down for money to boost the % of alums who give number.
