What to do Monday for Tuesday's AMC

by rrusczyk, Feb 4, 2007, 3:37 PM

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. No cramming, no practice tests, no studying for other tests, no hard homework. Relax. Play a game. Read a light book.

If you must do something that will make you feel like you are preparing, then read this.

I'm going to sleep at 10:00, instead of 11:30 like I generally do.

I'm also going to use the California High School Exit Exam as a warm up, since it's on the same day. (I think I'm giving myself 1 min per 12 problems on the math section) :P

Ehrm, well, I have a debate case to write for presentation Tuesday, Kennesaw State Proof exam Wed., Science fair Fri, soc stud fair Sat, ARML Power Sunday, and USACO Monday, so I can't really quit working on everything........... But yes, the advice about not studying is quite good and I intend to take it wrt AMCs. :)

Why shouldn't we study?

Excellent advice. tz, you want to be well-rested. I don't intend to do anything that I wouldn't do for a normal school day, except maybe going to bed earlier.

Study the night before is more likely to tire your brain than to help you on the test. The AMC is not a test for cramming, like, say, a history test or something. It's something you study for all year long, not the night before. Just like football players work out throughout the year, but rest the day before the big game.
