Podcasts

by rrusczyk, Apr 24, 2007, 4:20 PM

At some point in the next couple weeks, I'm going to (finally) start making podcasts for the site. I'm wondering what would be useful topics. Obviously, there's all sorts of math stuff to do, and we'll make some podcasts that are math-focused. However, I'm also wondering what sort of informational podcasts might be useful, both for students and for parents. Any suggestions?

Some neat proofs, maybe some promotional podcasts for Aops books. :D
Anything that may spark the viewer's interest in the greatness of mathematics is cool.

I would enjoy discussion about less-well-known math like graph theory or very advanced facts and theorems like, I don't know, Muirhead or something. I know those aren't as useful, but they're still fun to learn about.

What about a live podcast from Mathcounts nats? Or ARML when that rolls around? (Although I guess ARML would have to be "almost-live" given the three sites.)

There should definitely be a podcast on number theory. This is a major area of mathematics that is left out of most high school textbooks (with AoPS vol. 2 as a notable exception :D ).
