Building a local culture

by rrusczyk, Jun 17, 2006, 3:21 PM

Jeff Boyd, the coach of the 2005 National Championship team from Texas, has written an article for us about his experience building his program at two local schools, which produced all four students on his National Championship team. Click here to read the article!

Thank you, Jeff, for sharing your experience. I'd like to note particularly how important his efforts in drawing in other people from the community have been to the continuity and growth of his program. I think generally people underestimate how much they can get done, if only they try!

When I was in middle school, I wish I had attended one of the schools Mr. Boyd taught at instead of the school a few miles away where no one was really interested in math and/or knew what MATHCOUNTS was...luckily for me now there's AOPS!
