Maybe This Will Get Their Attention

If teachers don't teach their students well, then math mistakes are made that cost them jobs. Perhaps this will make the teachers' unions care more about the quality of the education their teachers give than the quantity of teachers paying dues. (Yeah, I'm dreaming. Sidenote: where's the union for students? Teachers have one. Principals have one. No organization exists solely to look out for the interests of the students.)

One question I have is
Did anyone check the work?

Whatever math mistake was done, you're always told to check your work when you are done (in school, that is). And in team competitions, You aren't supposed to do a problem by yourself and think it will be right; teammates are expected to do the problem to (almost) eliminate the possiblility of a "math mistake." So who checked the work for DISD's massive mistake?

I'm sorry but that would be a waste of time. If I would couch a team I wouldn't tell them to all tackle the same problem! They would basically have no chance of winning if they did that.
