Getting the grant program off the ground.

We had our first dinner with grant recipients last night. After meeting with half the grant recipients, I’m starting to get very confident that this project will work. I’ve often made the claim that there are a few eager students in every school who will rise to meet whatever challenge you try to throw at them. What we might be seeing in this grant program is that in many schools there are teachers who are willing to offer that challenge if they are given some support and direction. I hope the teachers are able to continue the enthusiasm and promise they showed last night, and that we’re able to give them enough guidance and support. Then, we’ll be on to the next steps - trying to find greater funding locally, and trying to take the program elsewhere. At the very least, we’re off to a good start. I wish Sandor could have been there; he would have enjoyed it.
