I just received an email asking me to bring a prop to a photo shoot on Sunday. That's right, I'm doing a photo shoot. For Trader Monthly magazine, no less. That's almost as comical as it sounds. A trader at Sandor's firm (Jane Street) was being featured in the magazine and he mentioned our Art of Problem Solving Foundation. They then decided to make our Foundation their charity of the month, or something like that. They showed us some past articles they had written; most were a few sentences with a little picture. So, we went ahead and said yes, figuring publicity for the Foundation targeted at wealthy individuals who owe much of their wealth to excellence at reasoning would not be a bad thing.
I have no idea what to expect from the article, as the interview was over an hour, and even the fact-checking that occurred later took a while. Then the photo business came up. Sandor and I didn't have any suitable pictures together (I guess they didn't like the dirty, sweaty ones from the Trinidad trip), so they want us to do a photo shoot this Sunday, whatever that means. Vanessa and Yalli will at least get a good chance to laugh their tails off at us. They asked us to wear a black shirt. The only one I have is my New York City Math Team shirt
Somehow I doubt that's what they're looking for, but I'm gonna try it anyway.
