Pandora's box

Thank you very much for introducing me to Pandora. My iTunes is going to get a lot less playtime...

Why didn't I know about this earlier?

Some tips:

* you can only click the next song button so many times before they restrict you due to their license. Instead have a few stations and switch between them. Eventually if you switch enough you'll find a song you like and/or one of the other stations will go to the next song when you come back to it.

* stations generally will play the same set of songs (pretty decent size, but still you'll notice after listening to a station for...a while). So you'll find that you may want to switch stations now and then.

Man, would have told you about it but I didn't know you didn't know about it! Yeah, it's a great resource. Sometimes you really just want to hear a particular song so google.com/video or iTunes comes in handy.

My problem with Pandora has always been the size of the library - once I used it for long enough that I had a settled channel, it was cycling through only 50 songs or so. You might not have that problem as your taste is probably different.

Yeah, that's why I was saying to get a few different channels. Kinda interesting how two artists or songs that I think are similar turn up channels with very little overlap. Clearly there's more to be desired with Pandora, but it's one of the sweetest _legal_ options out there. Zero cost, low rate of ads, generally plays the songs you want to hear, portable (all I have to do is bring ear plugs to work and I'm set).

Yeah, I already have a bunch of channels with all sorts of different stuff. I don't listen to any of them enough to repeat, yet.

I loved Pandora. I miss it here with dial-up. Didn't know you didn't know about it!

Pandora's great for finding similar styled music, however, if you're just looking for a way to loop an endless playlist, Songza.com is the way to go. Basically, it streams music from Youtube and iMeem with a single search. By creating a free account you can build a playlist, shuffle, etc.
