The Right Attitude

The Tampa Bay Rays' manager messed up when filling out the line-up card for their game yesterday and as a result, the pitcher (who usually doesn't bat at all) not only had to bat, but would be batting third. The pitcher's response:
Quote:
Pitching coach Jim Hickey came down and told me that I was going to have to hit and I corrected him and told him I was going to get to hit.

I don't care what the game is, there's a guy I want on my team.

Some random stuff about pitchers batting:
- Last year, Felix Hernandez had this batting line for the season: one at bat, one grand slam.
- In college, there are occasional pitcher/DHs. Under NCAA rules, it's even possible to be both the pitcher and the designated hitter in the same game, and stay in as a hitter after being removed as a pitcher.
