Two Birds with One Stone

Let more smart people immigrate and give support to the housing market -- just one simple idea away. Of course, the idea of giving visas to foreigners who buy houses would never, ever, ever get through Congress. But it's an intriguing idea that should get more consideration. It's almost certainly a better move than the current stimulus package. (I also think that cutting the payroll tax is an obviously better move. Why won't either of these policies get serious consideration? Because there's no pork to be had, and no politically powerful special interest group to be fed by either policy.)
